Laser Skin Resurfacing in Seattle, WA

Learn how laser skin resurfacing can help your skin. North Sound Dermatology Aesthetics offers laser skin resurfacing to residents of Mill Creek, Seattle, Everett, and neighboring communities.

Laser skin resurfacing, sometimes called laser peeling, is a popular dermatological treatment to reduce the signs of aging and improve scars or natural blemishes. Early laser therapies were known for being uncomfortable, and carried a risk of scarring, particularly for dark-skinned individuals. The advanced Palomar Icon™ 1540nm utilizes fractional laser technology, providing excellent results with less discomfort, faster recovery, and a dramatically reduced risk of scarring.

How 1540 fractional laser resurfacing works

The Icon™ 1540nm is a non-ablative, fractional laser, which means that abnormal skin is not vaporized, but instead, is heated in tiny columns resulting in new skin forming in those areas. This treatment targets scarring, brown spots and broken blood vessels by focusing very tiny columns of laser light at the skin to remove the abnormal tissue, whilst leaving areas of normal skin in-between the columns undamaged. This makes the procedure much less painful and healing much faster than the old non-fractional lasers.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Case 1

This procedure is an excellent treatment for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging and the sun
  • Scarring from acne, surgery or trauma
  • Brown spots (age spots/sun spots) on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands
  • Red blood vessels from rosacea or sun damage on the face, neck and chest
  • Large oil glands on the face (sebaceous hyperplasias)
  • Uneven skin tone

CO2 Fractional laser skin resurfacing

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is used with fractional laser skin resurfacing, which is the latest advancement in skin rejuvenation that is non-surgical. The CO2 laser offers the longest wavelength compared to other lasers and is the best for all skin types, including darker skin types. With CO2 laser skin resurfacing, there is a greater chance of shrinking collagen, which is why the results are better for more severe skin issues. The CO2 laser beam is pixelated into a thousand tiny shafts of light that penetrate deep into the skin causing the skin to push out the sun-damaged skin. The old skin that is eliminated is replaced with new skin. CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing is compatible with other cosmetic skin treatments, and can be used on the neck, chest, arms, legs, and the delicate area of the eyelid and around the mouth. It does not treat redness due to dilated blood vessels or reddish blotchiness on the neck. This treatment is best for treating:

  • Deeper wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Blotchiness
  • Acne scars
  • Normal wrinkles
  • Surgical scars
  • Trauma scars
